My family and I moved here in Arizona in 2004 from San Diego. But, before San Diego of course we tried to stay in different places in the United States also, like San Francisco, in California, Chicago and Saipan in CNMI.
When we first visit Arizona we do not know anybody except for a couple whom my wife met at Navy Lodge Hotel in San Diego Naval Station where she worked as a front desk clerk.
Did you know that there is a lot of discouragement to us to move here in Phoenix at that time? But, we did not listen to them instead, we tried onetime drove around in June of 2004? This was our first visit in this place. In four to five hours drive, we arrived safely but because we do not know where to stay, we end staying in a hotel closed to the airport. We drove around the Phoenix area the next day, conquering the desert from east side to the west side. Well at that time it’s a summer and the temperature was like 110 degrees.
Then the second time we came here, we tried to look for a rental home in Phoenix or home for sale Phoenix AZ and luckily we got a rental apartment close to Phoenix area where my work is closer.
Right now we reside here in Avondale, Arizona with some Filipino friends.
Pinoy are very much existing here in this area and of course anywhere in Arizona.
